Beaches

The Southern District is best known for its twelve public beaches. Unique in their appeal, all of them are easily accessed by public transport and offer extensive facilities. For swimmers' safety, ten of the beaches offer lifeguard service in swimming seasons and are provided with shark prevention hets. For Hairpin Beach and Rocky Bay Beach, no lifeguard service provided for all year round.

Driving to the beach to enjoy sun, casino sea and sand is a choice summer activity for many people in Hong Kong, however not every beach has a carpark or sufficient parking spaces. To minimise inconvenience, we suggest using public transport on weekends and public holidays.

Some beaches have facilities that cater to the needs of visitors with disabilities. For details see our barrierfree travel recommendations on this site.

When having fun at the beach, please do not litter and keep it clean.
